Schools Involvement.

From the beginning the schools of Waltham Abbey, and therefore the parents and teachers, put a great deal of their time into the stage dressing of the event.
It was not just the period clothing, there were structures, placards and banners.
In later years superb paper and cane renditions of "Tudor" galleons that took a dozen children to carry appeared; in addition the children performed a variety of "Tudor" street entertainment's.
An instant success for the schools and children, the adults were not forgotten and beside the kiddies roundabouts evening pub entertainment took place in the streets and squares.
Community singing and recitals in the Abbey Church, dance troupes, bands and singing in the Town Hall, all followed by spectacular fireworks behind the Abbey at dusk.
