Festival Week.
The new longer event which started in 2000, retains all the elements of the old but much more. Through successful fund raising the colour and magic of the days events remain "free" to all. Anyone can come to the town with an empty purse and a packed lunch and be entertained from morning until evening and no-one will raise an eyebrow.
But a range
of additional pay events - ranging from a funfair to helicopter rides - now add to the free core activities to vastly widen the area of interest to all
